China Fishery wind-up hearing adjourned; liquidator discharge sought

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Jan. 11 – China Fishery Group Ltd.’s winding-up petition hearing was adjourned to the week of Jan. 18 from Jan. 8 by the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands, according to a news release.

The petition was filed by Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corp. Ltd.

In addition, China Fishery asked the court to discharge joint provisional liquidators Fergal Thomas Power, Kris Beighton and Alexander Lawson. The discharge application has not yet been listed for hearing, and the joint provisional liquidators currently remain in office.

The company said the petitioner has applied to the Court of Appeal of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for leave to appeal that court’s orders discontinuing the appointment of Edward Simon Middleton, Power and Beighton as joint provisional liquidators in Hong Kong.

China Fishery is a Hong Kong-based manager and operator of fishing vessels for coastal and deep-sea industrial fishing.
