AES Eastern Energy plan OK'd by most voting creditors; hearing Dec. 27

Pittsburgh, Dec. 21 - AES Eastern Energy, LP's plan of liquidation was approved by a majority of voting creditors, according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

All 73 holders of pass-through trust certificate claims voted to accept the plan, as did 55, or 93.22% in number, of $64.71 million, or 99.92% in dollar amount, of general unsecured claims.

Meanwhile, four holders, or 6.78% in number, of $50,443, or 0.08% in amount, of general unsecured claims voted to reject the plan.

The plan confirmation hearing is scheduled for Dec. 27.

AES Eastern Energy operates more than 1,000 megawatts of capacity at four facilities in New York. The company filed for bankruptcy on Jan. 3, 2011 under Chapter 11 case number 11-14138.
