CHC Group secures court approval for $3.52 million helicopter sale

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Sept. 22 – CHC Group Ltd. received court approval of the $3.52 million private sale of a helicopter to Heli Austria GmbH, according to an order filed Sept. 21 with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas.

CHC said the helicopter in question has been sitting idle in a hangar in Poland since May 2015.

As a result, the company said it continues to incur unnecessary related storage, insurance, maintenance and permitting costs.

CHC said it marketed its surplus Super Puma helicopters as part of its strategy to eliminate older helicopter types from its fleet.

Based in Richmond, B.C., CHC is a commercial helicopter operator. It filed for Chapter 11 on May 5 under case number 16-31854.
