S&P: CenterPoint Energy unchanged

Standard & Poor's said that CenterPoint Energy Inc.'s (BBB/stable/A-3) agreement with the IRS' appeals division regarding the company's tax treatment of some of its securities favors the company's credit quality but does not affect the ratings in the near term.

The agency said that the securities are the company's 2% zero premium exchangeable subordinated notes and its 7% automatic common exchange securities.

The agreement settles CenterPoint Energy's tax treatment of the securities and concludes the IRS' pending audit of the company, S&P noted.
