S&P: CenterPoint unchanged

Standard & Poor's said that damage from Hurricane Ike will not immediately affect the ratings on CenterPoint Energy Inc.

Hurricane Ike has severely affected the service territory of CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric LLC, CenterPoint's largest subsidiary, the agency said.

The effect of the hurricane on CenterPoint's credit profile will depend on an assessment of the damage and restoration costs, the company's ability to restore service to customers on a timely basis, and the level of responsiveness from state authorities, including regulators, S&P noted.
