Calpine $37 million April income from operations shows turnaround from March numbers

Pittsburgh, June 12 - Calpine Corp. reported a $37 million income from operations for April on $573 million in revenues, according to its monthly operating report filed Tuesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The figures show improvement over a $30 million March loss from operations on $535 million in revenues.

The net loss for April was $93 million, better than a $216 million March net loss.

Cash and cash equivalents at April 30 were $1.328 billion, compared with $1.505 billion at the end of March.

Calpine, a San Jose, Calif., power company, filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 20, 2005 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. Its Chapter 11 case number is 05-60200.
