Kingswood Senior Living seeks final decree closing Chapter 11 case

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., April 7 – Kansas City United Methodist Retirement Home, Inc., which does business as Kingswood Senior Living Community, is seeking a final decree closing its Chapter 11 case, according to a motion filed Thursday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Missouri.

As previously reported, the company’s Chapter 11 plan was confirmed on Nov. 10.

The company said that after confirmation, it continued its business operations and management of its assets, implemented the plan and started the requisite distributions to creditors. As a result, the plan has been substantially consummated.

Kingswood said it has resolved the remaining issues on claims against the estate and all known pre-confirmation matters in the case are concluded.

Kingswood Senior Living Community is a Kansas City, Mo.-based owner and operator of a continuing care retirement community. The company filed bankruptcy on Aug. 18, 2021 under Chapter 11 case number 21-41049.
