California Water Service files automatic shelf for stock, preferreds

Knoxville, Tenn., May 11 - California Water Service Group filed an automatic shelf registration in an S-3 ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers preferred stock, common stock, warrants, purchase contracts, depositary shares and units, along with first mortgage bonds to be offered by the group's subsidiary, California Water Service Co., and guaranteed by the parent.

The bonds and preferreds may be structured as convertibles.

Proceeds will be added to the group's general funds and used for general corporate purposes.

California Water is a holding company for public utilities based in San Jose, Calif.
