Goldman Sachs plans variable-interest notes linked to 30 Dow stocks

Tacoma, Wash., April 14 - Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. plans to price variable-interest basket-linked notes due 2016 linked to the 30 stocks that are included in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The notes will pay a coupon each year equal to the average of the 30 stocks' returns, subject to a minimum coupon of 1% each year. Each stock's return will be subject to a cap of 9% to 10.5% that will be set at pricing.

The payout at maturity will be par.

Goldman Sachs & Co. is the underwriter.

The Cusip number is 38143UTW1.
