Advisors Disciplined Trust 796 offers Balanced Portfolio units

San Diego, Jan. 11 - Advisors Disciplined Trust 796 is offering units of its Balanced Portfolio-15 Month, Series 2012-1Q, according to an S-6 amendment filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The depositor is Monument, Colo.-based Advisors Asset Management, Inc.

The trust seeks high current dividend income with capital appreciation as a secondary objective by investing in a diversified portfolio, primarily consisting of common stocks and shares of income-oriented closed-end funds. The trust will tap into a high 50 dividend strategy to supply stocks providing above-average total return and a tactical income closed-end strategy to select stocks of closed-end funds seeking high current income and capital appreciation potential.

On the trust's inception date, Jan. 11, $148,496 of contracts to purchase underlying securities comprised the trust. The 15,000 units each have a public offering price of $10 and a net asset value of $9.655. The estimated net annual distribution per unit is $0.6762.

The units have a maximum sales fee of 2.95%, consisting of a 1% initial sales fee, a 1.45% deferred sales fee and a 0.5% creation and development fee. The fee may be reduced on a sliding scale to 1.4% depending on the number of units purchased.

The trust has a termination date of April 24, 2013.
