BTIG hires Kasdin, Melasecca for EM team, Stapen heads sales

Lexington, Ky., Aug. 16 – BTIG Ltd. announced that Stuart Kasdin and Pablo Melasecca have joined the firm’s fixed-income credit team as managing directors and co-heads of Latin America and EMEA credit emerging markets and Matthew Stapen has been appointed as managing director and head of Latin America and EMEA emerging markets sales, according to a press release.

Kasdin and Melasecca will be responsible for a team of salespeople and traders in the Americas and Europe dedicated to emerging markets sovereign and corporate credit.

Stapen will focus on expanding the team to cover the U.S., European and Latin American client bases.

Previously, Kasdin spent 15 years at Goldman Sachs as vice president of emerging markets sales and was also a managing director and head of Latin America trading and sales at ABN AMRO Inc. Prior to that, he was a managing director, emerging markets sales and a member of the emerging markets operating committee at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein.

Prior to joining BTIG, Melasecca was executive director in emerging markets sales at Morgan Stanley. Previously, he was vice president in emerging markets sales at Goldman Sachs and was also a Latin America sovereign debt trader at JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley and Lehman Brothers.

Stapen came to BTIG from Mizuho Securities where he was an executive director within emerging markets sales. Previously, he had been a managing director at Stifel and a senior vice president at Hapoalim Securities. Stapen has also done stints as a managing director and head of emerging markets sales at Cantor Fitzgerald and as a director within EM sales at RBS/ABN Amro.
