He began his financial services career in leveraged finance at Bank of America, followed by high-yield and distressed debt analyst positions at BlackRock, AIG Global Investment Group and BNY Capital Markets.

After earning a master's and bachelor's degree at the University of Virginia, Palmer received his M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

"We see the high-yield and distressed business as a promising growth opportunity for us," Steven Starker, cofounder of BTIG, said in the release.

"These latest hires are consistent with our ongoing goal of adding talented and experienced professionals to our platform and are part of the continuing expansion of BTIG into areas where we can add value and service to our clients."
