Bruno's sale hearing delayed after company fails to complete auction

By Jennifer Lanning Drey

Portland, Ore., April 30 - Bruno's Supermarkets, LLC's hearing for approval of the sale of substantially all of its assets was postponed after Bruno's said it was unable to conclude the auction for the assets as scheduled.

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Alabama pushed the hearing back to May 4. It was originally scheduled for April 30.

In a Wednesday court filing, Bruno's said it was still in negotiations with potential buyers.

Bruno's, a Birmingham, Ala., owner and operator of Bruno's and Food World, filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 5 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Alabama. Its Chapter 11 case number is 09-10368.
