Bruker AXS to buy Princeton Gamma-Tech's X-ray microanalysis business

New York, Oct. 26 - Bruker AXS Inc. said it will buy Princeton Gamma-Tech Instruments, Inc.'s X-ray microanalysis business for $1.885 million.

The operations have annual revenues of $5 to $6 million.

Bruker AXS will combine this business with Roentec AG, which it announced on Oct. 14 that it will purchase, into a new Bruker AXS Microanalysis Group.

Closing of the Princeton Gamma-Tech acquisition is expected in the fourth quarter. Of the purchase price, $435,000 will be held in escrow for 12 months pending satisfaction of non-competition and non-solicitation covenants.

"Roentec and [Princeton Gamma-Tech] both have excellent technology and products, and both have a strong customer base in complementary geographical markets," said Roger Durst, Bruker AXS executive vice president, in a news release.

"However, both companies also have been distribution-limited and at a size disadvantage relative to their larger competitors. We believe that their combined product line and software, further enhanced by additional technologies from Bruker AXS, can offer leading capabilities, as well as extensive service and support coverage to X-ray microanalysis customers anywhere in the world."

Bruker AXS provides X-ray diffraction systems and is a subsidiary of Bruker BioSciences Corp., headquartered in Billerica, Mass.
