Hahnemann University Hospital secures 120-day exclusivity extension

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Nov. 13 – Center City Healthcare, LLC, which does business as Hahnemann University Hospital, received an extension of its exclusive periods for filing and soliciting votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to an order filed Wednesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company’s exclusive filing period was extended by 120 days through Feb. 25 and the solicitation period by 120 days through April 26.

Hahnemann said the goals of its bankruptcy case include the wind down of Hahnemann University Hospital and the ultimate preservation and sale of St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.

“Despite facing numerous challenges during these Chapter 11 cases, the debtors remain on track to accomplish these goals,” the motion said.

Once the St. Christopher’s sale closes and other significant case issues are addressed, Hahnemann said it intends to formulate, propose and implement an appropriate plan of liquidation for all 14 debtor entities.

Center City is a Philadelphia-based hospital operator. The company filed bankruptcy on June 30 under Chapter 11 case number 19-11466.
