Brasil Telecom seeks exclusion from rule of mandatory acquisition, calls debenture holders meeting

Tacoma, Wash., Dec. 1 - Brasil Telecom SA will hold a general meeting on Dec. 17 for holders of its fifth issue of debentures.

Holders are being asked to vote on a proposal to amend the indenture to include an exception to the rule of mandatory acquisition.

Also on the agenda is a proposal to amend the clause of the indenture that describes the return earned by debenture holders, according to a company news release.

The debentures were issued in June 2006 and are the company's fourth public issue.

Brasil Telecom is a telecommunications services provided based in Brasilia.
