Advanced Marketing posts $6.40 million operating loss for March

Portland, Ore., May 22 - Advanced Marketing Services Inc. reported a $6.40 million operating loss for the month ended March 30 on $5.05 million in net sales, according to its monthly operating report filed Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The numbers compare to $1.19 million of operating income for the month ended Feb. 24 on $22.49 million in net sales.

The net loss for the March period was $39.05 million, compared with net income of $878,449 in the February period.

Cash and cash equivalents were negative $317,557, compared with $8.58 million at Feb. 24.

Advanced Marketing, a San Diego-based provider of customized merchandising, wholesaling and contract distribution services, filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 29. Its Chapter 11 case number is 06-11480.
