Fitch rates Securian Financial notes A

Fitch Ratings said it assigned an A rating to $500 million of senior unsecured notes issued by Securian Financial Group, Inc.

Existing ratings are unaffected by this action.

The outlook is stable.

The rating is one notch below Securian Financial’s long-term issuer default rating, which reflects standard notching based on Fitch's rating criteria.

The agency said it expects proceeds to be used for general corporate purposes. As a result, this issuance is expected to increase Securian Financial’s financial leverage to about 12%.
