By Ashley Montgomery

Kansas City, Kan., April 3 - BlackRock, Inc. has hired seven professionals for a new emerging markets debt team in London.

The new hires all come to BlackRock from BNP Paribas Investment Partners, where they managed emerging market funds.

Sergio Trigo-Paz was the chief investment officer for emerging markets fixed income at BNP Paribas, and he will lead the new team at BlackRock.

"We are truly excited about the seven individuals joining BlackRock," said Rich Kushel, BlackRock senior managing director and head of portfolio management, in a news release.

"The combination of our global reach and capabilities with their collective expertise in this increasingly important sector will be quite powerful. We are thrilled about this new team which, when they join BlackRock, will further enhance our ability to provide compelling offerings to our clients across the growing and increasingly important emerging market debt space."

The investment management firm is based in New York.
