Moody's assigns BlackRock notes A1

Moody's Investors Service said it assigned an A1 debt rating to senior unsecured notes to be issued by BlackRock, Inc.

At the same time, Moody's said it has also assigned provisional ratings, senior debt at provisional A1, to BlackRock's recently filed shelf registration.

The outlook is stable.

Moody's stated that the actions follow the assignment of BlackRock's A1 issuer rating on Sept. 7.

The agency added that BlackRock's excellent market position as a leading, broadly diversified investment manager and its successful transformation since acquiring Merrill Lynch Investment Managers in September 2006 are significant factors in the rating.
