S&P views Invatlan, Atlantida negatively

S&P said it changed its outlooks for Inversiones Atlantida SA and Banco Atlantida SA to negative from stable and affirmed the BB- global scale issuer credit ratings on Banco Atlantida and B ratings on Invatlan.

The agency cited the revision of its outlook for Honduras on Thursday to negative from stable.

“In our view, banks in Honduras are already exposed to very high economic risk that incorporates limits in terms of the economy's resilience and a potential deterioration in the country's fiscal position,” S&P said in a press release.

The agency warned there’s a one-in-three chance it could downgrade Honduras’ ratings in the next six to 18 months, which would mean a downgrade for Invatlan and Atlantida.
