Borregaard gets $50 million 10-year sustainability-linked loan via NIB

By Marisa Wong

Los Angeles, March 24 – Borregaard ASA entered into a $50 million 10-year sustainability-linked loan agreement on Thursday with Nordic Investment Bank, according to a press release.

The loan will contribute to financing Borregaard’s investments to reduce CO2 emissions and water effluents.

The company and the lender have agreed on three key performance indicators (KPIs) to be achieved. The KPIs are closely linked to Borregaard’s sustainability strategy.

The margin under the loan agreement can be adjusted based on Borregaard’s progress on its 2030 target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions; reduction of emissions of organic compounds to the Glomma River to targeted levels; and reduction of the group’s total recordable injuries.

The biorefinery company is based in Sarpsborg, Norway.
