S&P affirms Uniper

S&P said it affirmed the BBB- long-term corporate credit and issue ratings on Uniper SE and its senior unsecured debt.

The outlook remains positive.

The agency said the affirmation follows Fortum Oyj's announcement that about 47% of Uniper's shareholders have accepted Fortum's voluntary public take-over offer of Uniper, of which 46.65% is E.ON SE's share.

S&P said it also understands that two activist funds have recently bought material stakes in Uniper.

“We currently have limited visibility on the new shareholders' impact on Uniper's business and financial strategies, although none of them, including Fortum, would have a controlling stake in Uniper,” the agency said in a news release.
