India’s Birla to ask shareholders to authorize issuance of debentures

Columbus, Ohio, Jan. 5 – Birla Corp. Ltd. plans to ask shareholders to authorize its board of directors to issue nonconvertible debentures on a private placement basis, according to a Bombay Stock Exchange notice.
The shareholder approval will by sought by way of postal ballot.
The authorization would allow the board to issue debentures within the overall borrowing limits of the company from time to time for a one-year period.
The Kolkata-based company operates cement, jute, vinyl flooring and auto trim businesses.
