Norseman Offshore files bankruptcy petition against Viking Supply

New York, June 10 – Norseman Offshore AS filed an application for bankruptcy against Viking Supply Ships A/S, said a statement from Viking.

The petition is being made on the basis of unpaid hire totaling $2.5 million, said the notice. Norseman is the owner of the vessel Odin Viking, which is on a bareboat charter with Viking.

The company has not been officially notified of the petition by the court.

The two parties have been in discussions for several months as part of the overall financial restructuring of the group.

Based in Gothenburg, Sweden, Viking is an offshore and icebreaking company in the Arctic and subarctic areas, as well as a provider of shipping services between the Baltic Sea and the continent.
