By Ted A. Knutson

Washington, Feb. 3 - BEI Technologies Inc. filed a shelf for up to $150 million in an S-3 registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Included within the shelf are debt securities, warrants, depositary shares, common stock and preferred stock. Securities may be issued as convertibles.

This is the first time the company has filed a shelf in its 16 years of existence.

The San Francisco-based maker of machinery sensors said proceeds from offerings authorized by the shelf would be used for general corporate purposes and potential acquisitions.
