Moody’s provides Baa1 to Guotai Junan

Moody's Investors Service said it assigned a Baa1 long-term issuer rating and a Prime-2 short-term issuer rating to Guotai Junan Securities Co. Ltd. (GTJA Securities).

The outlook is stable.

The Baa1 long-term issuer rating reflects the company's (a) strong retail brokerage franchise; (b) competitive investment banking and asset management businesses; and (c) reduced leverage and comfortable liquidity position, Moody’s said.

It also reflects the challenges posed by its exposure to China's volatile securities markets and a rise in regulatory risks since the stock market downturn earlier in the year.
