Pittsburgh, Nov. 30 – LB Steel, LLC’s official committee of unsecured creditors obtained court approval to hire Duane Morris as its counsel, according to an order filed Monday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

The hiring is retroactive to Oct. 29.

As counsel, Duane Morris’ duties will include advising the committee on motions and pleadings filed by LB Steel, representing and advising the committee in connection with any sale or Chapter 11 plan, investigating the company’s assets and pre-bankruptcy conduct, analyzing the perfection and priority of secured creditor liens and preparing court documents on behalf of the committee.

Attorneys who Duane Morris expects to perform the majority of work in the case will be paid amounts ranging from $325 to $440 per hour for associates and $530 to $835 per hour for partners. Paraprofessional services will be billed at $285 per hour.

LB Steel is a Harvey, Ill.-based producer of strip plate mills. The company filed bankruptcy on Oct. 18 under Chapter 11 case number 15-35358.
