Bear Stearns to price 15% notes linked to Atheros Communications

New York, April 21 - The Bear Stearns Cos. Inc. is planning to issue one-year 15% contingent-protection notes linked to Atheros Communications, Inc. stock, according to an FWP filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The notes are not principal protected if the closing price of Atheros Communications stock falls below 60% of the initial level and the final level is less than the initial level. If both conditions are met, investors will share in any losses. Otherwise, investors will receive par.

The securities are expected to price on April 21 and to settle on April 26.
