Bear Stearns plans $3 million notes linked to S&P

New York, Jan. 12 - The Bear Stearns Cos. Inc. plans to price $3 million of 13-month notes linked to the S&P 500 index, according to an FWP filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The notes will mature in February 2008.

At maturity, the notes will pay double the index return, capped at between 17.7% and 17.8%.

Investors will share in any losses.

The notes will price in January.

Bear Stearns & Co. will be the underwriter.
