Moody’s rates BBVA Bancomer issues A3

Moody’s Investors Service said it assigned Aaa.mx and A3 Mexican national and global scale long-term senior unsecured debt ratings to BBVA Bancomer, SA's proposed issuances of certificados bursátiles bancarios for up to Ps. 3.5 billion with a maturity of three years, and for up to Ps. 3.5 billion with a maturity of five years.

The outlooks are stable.

The agency said the ratings incorporate Bancomer's consistently robust earnings, sound asset quality and superior access to retail deposits.

These strengths are counterbalanced by the bank's moderate capitalization and liquidity, Moody’s said.

The agency said the ratings also consider an assessment of a very high willingness from the government to support Bancomer to assure banking system stability and investor confidence.
