S&P affirms BBVA Bancomer

Standard & Poor's said it affirmed the BBB/A-3 global scale and mxAAA/mxA-1+ national scale counterparty credit ratings on BBVA Bancomer SA.

The outlook remains stable.

The ratings reflect its predominant position in the Mexican banking system, solid profitability and adequate risk-adjusted capital ratios, S&P said.

Counterbalancing these positive factors is the bank's higher loan-to-deposit ratio than its peers, the agency said, and the risks related to operating in the highly competitive Mexican banking industry.
