S&P gives Baxter notes A+

Standard & Poor's said it assigned its A+ rating to Baxter International Inc.'s $500 million of senior unsecured notes.

Baxter will use the net proceeds for general corporate purposes, including the refinancing of indebtedness, the agency said, adding that the corporate credit rating on the company remains unchanged.

At the same time, the agency said it is assigning a preliminary A+ rating to the debt securities filed under the company's shelf registration, adding that its rating on Baxter reflects its strength as a leading manufacturer of diversified and relatively noncyclical medical products.
