Fitch: AES Panama notes BB+

Fitch Ratings said it assigned a BB+ rating to AES Panama SRL's proposed dollar-denominated notes reopening.

The reopened notes are part of an issue due 2022 and will be used primarily to refinance the remaining outstanding debt for the notes due at the end of 2016, Fitch said.

The company’s credit metrics have significantly improved since 2014, the agency said, are expected to continue improving.

The ratings reflect AES Panama's contractual position with low counterparty risk, Fitch said.
