El Paso Children’s Hospital committee gets approval to hire counsel

Bethlehem, Pa., Oct. 13 – El Paso Children’s Hospital Corp.’s official committee of unsecured creditors received court approval to retain Brinkman Portillo Ronk APC as counsel, retroactive to Sept. 3, according to an order issued Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Texas.

As previously reported, Brinkman attorneys will be responsible for providing legal advice with respect to the committee’s powers and duties; assisting the committee in investigating the acts, conduct, assets, liabilities and financial condition of the company; participating in the formation of the reorganization plan; providing legal advice with respect to the disclosure statement; preparing necessary legal documents; appearing in court on behalf of the company; and assisting the committee with the appointment of a trustee or examiner.

Additionally, hourly rates for Brinkman attorneys and paralegals will range from $175 to $575.

Based in El Paso, El Paso Children’s Hospital provides pediatric patient care, research and education services. The hospital filed for bankruptcy on May 19 under the Chapter 11 case number 15-30784.
