High Rock Capital begins private client division, hires Scott Tomenson

By Tali Rackner

Norfolk, Va., April 7 – High Rock Capital Management Inc. announced the start of its private client division and hired Scott Tomenson as a managing partner, portfolio manager and co-owner, according to a press release.

The private client division will operate parallel to the existing institutional business but will be for individuals, households and small institutions.

To help move along this path, High Rock has brought in Tomenson, pending Ontario Securities Commission approval.

Tomenson has more than 30 years of investment management experience beginning as an institutional fixed income trader/risk manager, where he managed several billion dollars of risk with banks and investment firms in both Toronto and New York. More recently over the past 15 years, he has served as an investment advisor/portfolio manager at some of Canada's leading wealth advisory firms, the release said.

“As I searched for a partner to build our new business line in the private client space, the number one quality I needed in that new partner was: Trust,” High Rock founder and managing partner Paul Tepsich said in the release.

“As we move this new business line forward, I know of no one as trustworthy, sincere and knowledgeable as Scott to be partnering with. I have known Scott since our days working together in the early 90's and we have remained friends and business associates ever since. With Scott on board, High Rock will be able to offer best-in-class service in both our Institutional and private client businesses.”

High Rock currently manages about $200 million across four closed-end funds on behalf of Scotia Managed Companies Administration Inc., a division of Scotiabank.
