Barrick Gold: Cadence Energy's 4.75% convertibles may be converted

By Devika Patel

Knoxville, Tenn., Sept. 17 - Barrick Gold Corp. said that the 4.75% convertible unsecured subordinated debentures due 2012 issued by Cadence Energy became convertible on Sept. 16.

The debentures are convertible at a rate of 19.23 Barrick shares for each C$1,000 of debentures.

The conversion opportunity arose in connection with the previously announced payment of regular dividends on Barrick's common shares.

Barrick Gold is a Toronto-based gold company.
