Marshall Broadcasting requests two-month exclusivity extension

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Feb. 27 – Marshall Broadcasting Group, Inc. requested an extension of its exclusive periods for filing and soliciting votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to a motion filed Thursday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Marshall wants the court to extend its exclusive plan-filing period through June 1 from April 1 and the solicitation period through July 31 from May 31.

The company said it has been marketing its assets since it filed bankruptcy, with an auction scheduled for March 24.

In addition, Marshall said it is negotiating with parties in interest that have taken an active role in its Chapter 11 case, including Mission Broadcasting, Inc., Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc., Fox Broadcasting Co., LLC and others.

According to the motion, Marshall and Nexstar have agreed to participate in non-binding mediation in an attempt to resolve the outstanding issues between them. The mediation is scheduled to occur on March 12 and March 13.

“The debtor requires additional time to formulate a plan and disclosure statement in light of the many moving parts present in this case, including debtor’s efforts to sell substantially all of its assets,” the motion said.

Marshall is a Houston-based broadcasting company. The company filed bankruptcy on Dec. 3 under Chapter 11 case number 19-36743.
