Fitch affirms Barclays

Fitch Ratings said it affirmed Barclays plc's long- and short-term issuer default ratings at A and F1, respectively.

The bank's viability rating was affirmed at a.

Fitch maintained the A long-term issuer default ratings of Barclays Bank plc and Barclays Bank UK plc on rating watch positive.

The agency said the ratings reflect a view of the consolidated risk profile of the group, which results from an analysis of its two main operating banks.

After the transfer of assets and liabilities to a newly set up sister bank BBUK plc in April, the remaining Barclays Bank plc subgroup represents around 80% of the group's assets and just over half of pre-tax profit, Fitch said.
