New Issue: Barclays sells $17.61 million buffered Stars due 2017 linked to S&P 500

Chicago, June 2 – Barclays Bank plc priced $17.61 million of 0% Strategic Accelerated Redemption Securities due June 16, 2017 linked to the S&P 500 index, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The notes will be called at an annual call premium of 6.7% if the index closes at or above the initial level on any of three call dates.
The payout at maturity will be par unless the index falls by more than 5%, in which case investors will be exposed to any losses beyond 5%.
Bank of America Merrill Lynch is the underwriter.
