Barclays to price principal-protected notes linked to Nikkei 225

Chicago, April 18 - Barclays Bank plc plans to price 0% principal-protected notes due Nov. 20, 2012 linked to the Nikkei 225 index, according to an FWP filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Payout at maturity will be par plus any gain on the index, capped at a return of between 41% and 48%. The exact cap will be set at pricing.

Investors will receive at least par.

The notes will price on May 14 and settle on May 19.

Barclays Capital Inc. will be the agent.
