Barclays to price return enhanced notes linked to Consumer Staples ETF

Seattle, Sept. 21 - Barclays Bank plc plans to price an offering of 0% return enhanced notes due Sept. 29, 2009 linked to the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR fund, according to an FWP filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The notes will price on Sept. 25 and settle on Sept. 28.

The payout at maturity will be par plus double any gain in the fund's share price, subject to a maximum return that is expected to be at least 24% and will be determined at pricing. Investors will be fully exposed to any decline in the fund's share price.

Barclays Capital will be the agent.
