Barclays to price principal-protected digital plus notes linked to commodities basket

Des Moines, Jan. 8 - Barclays Bank plc plans to arrange an issue of 100% principal-protected digital plus notes due Jan. 31, 2012 linked to a basket of commodities, according to an FWP filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The underlying basket includes equal weights of gasoline RBOB, gold, nickel and zinc.

At maturity, if the basket increases by at least 25%, investors will receive the greater of 150% of par or the basket return. If the basket increases by an amount less than 25%, investors will receive 125% of par. If the basket return is negative, investors will receive par.

The notes will price on Jan. 26 and settle on Jan. 31.

Barclays Capital will be the underwriter.
