Moody's rates Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi bonds Aa3

Moody's Investors Service said it assigned an Aa3 ratings to the senior unsecured bonds issued by the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd.

The outlook is stable.

The bond issues are series 139 ¥10 billion domestic senior unsecured bond due Jan. 22, 2016; series 140 ¥40 billion domestic senior unsecured bond due Jan. 23, 2018; and series 141 ¥10 billion domestic senior unsecured bond due Jan. 23, 2023.

The ratings incorporate the bank's very high probability of systemic support, given the bank's importance to Japan's financial system, Moody's said.

The ratings also consider its valuable franchise in Japan's retail/wholesale banking and fiduciary markets, higher volatility in its profitability and revenue structure and the high concentration risk in Japanese corporate credit, the agency said.
