Fitch: Bank of New York Mellon unaffected

Fitch Ratings said that the Bank of New York Mellon Corp.'s (AA-/F1+) ratings are unaffected by the company's announcement of a pretax charge of $4.8 billion in order to reduce risk in its $54 billion investment portfolio, along with some non-agency residential mortgage-backed securities transactions not yet completed.

Fitch said that this series of transactions will have no net impact on the company's tangible common equity ratio.
