Moody’s rates Kowepo notes Aa2

Moody’s Investors Service said it assigned an Aa2 rating to the proposed senior dollar notes to be issued by Korea Western Power Co., Ltd. (Kowepo, Aa2 stable). The outlook is stable.

Kowepo plans to use the proceeds for general corporate purpose, including refinancing of its maturing debt.

“The Aa2 rating reflects Kowepo's close operational and financial integration with its parent, Korea Electric Power Corp., and its strategic importance to Korea's economy as a major power generator,” Mic Kang, Moody's vice president and senior credit officer, said in a news release.
