Fitch rates Synchrony notes BBB-

Fitch Ratings said it assigned a BBB- rating to Synchrony Financial's issuance of $750 million three-year fixed-rate senior notes.

The proceeds are expected to be used for general corporate purposes, which may include refinancing maturing unsecured debt.

“The rating is equalized with the ratings assigned to SYF's existing senior unsecured debt as the new notes rank equally in the capital structure,” the agency said in a news release.

“The issuance is not expected to materially alter SYF's overall funding mix or have a material impact on its leverage.”
