IXYS now owns 5% of Zilog

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., March 6 - Zilog, Inc. investors led by IXYS Corp. purchased 120,756 shares of the company's stock between Jan. 9 and Feb. 26 for a total of $380,489.68.

The shares were priced from $2.70 to $3.43, it was reported in a schedule 13D filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

IXYS beneficially owns 848,256 shares, or 5% of the company's outstanding shares.

Zilog recently turned down an unsolicited offer from Universal Electronics Inc. to acquire the company for $4.50 cash per share. Riley Investment Management LLC, a 6.2% shareholder, was to be the financing partner in the deal.

The company is considering alternatives with the assistance of LRG Capital Corporate Advisory Group, LLC.

Based in San Jose, Calif., Zilog is a supplier of eight-, 16- and 32-bit microcontroller and microprocessor system-on-a-chip products.
