Breeden continues to invest in Zale

Charlotte, N.C., Jan. 7 - Investors led by Breeden Capital Management LLC increased their stake in Zale Corp. to 15.85% from 13.33% with the purchase of an additional 1,125,841 shares of the company's stock.

A portion of the shares were acquired on Dec. 31 for $15.89 each, and the remainder were purchased on Jan. 2 for $16.21 each, according to a schedule 13D filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

It was previously reported that Breeden and its affiliates bought 2,160,359 shares of Zale's stock between Nov. 8 and Dec. 28 priced from $15.60 to $19.18 each.

The reporting persons beneficially own 7,070,839 shares of the Irving, Texas-based fine jewelry retailer.

Breeden made an initial investment in the company on Sept. 17.
