Breeden buys more than 2 million shares of Zale

Charlotte, N.C., Jan. 2 - Investors led by Breeden Capital Management LLC upped their stake in Zale Corp. to 13.33% from 7.72% with the purchase of an additional 2,160,359 shares of the company's stock.

The shares were acquired between Nov. 8 and Dec. 28 priced from $15.60 to $19.18 each, according to a schedule 13D filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Breeden made an initial investment in the company on Sept. 17.

The reporting persons beneficially own 5,944,998 shares of the Irving, Texas-based fine jewelry retailer.
